Ellie goulding - Burn

When Clash first clapped eyes on her - in about 2008 or so - the waif-like singer was almost intimidatingly young. Often viewed as a fellow traveller of the then-rising 'nu folk' scene, in reality the Herefordshire singer was simply finding her feet.

Since then, Ellie Goulding has absorbed plenty of electronic influences and moved in a more pure pop direction. Second album 'Halcyon' was a huge blast at the mainstream, producing hit singles such as the Calvin Harris x Ellie backed release 'I Need Your Love'.

New single 'Burn' could eclipse them all. Released earlier this week, current figures suggest that Ellie Goulding is on course for the first number one single of her career.

To celebrate, Clash are able to bring you something unexpected. Citizen sits in the remix chair, sculpting 'Burn' into an all out house banger - just in time for the fading rays of summer.

Joyfully playing with the track, Citizen really brings something new. This isn't some spurious re-work: rather, the producer is able to impact his own personality onto 'Burn' whilst retaining the essential pop thrill which is making Ellie Goulding irresistible.

'Burn' is out now. Ellie Goulding is set to play the iTunes festival in London's Roundhouse venue on September 22nd.
